It’s important to set priorities and goals in life to achieve success. There are multiple ways on how to do it. In this article I want to share one technique which I was able to use in my life and work and which can help build a mindset to achieve goals.

I work in a tech company and tech companies are known for using cutting edge technologies to organize their business and strategies. One of these technologies is OKr – Objective and Key Results.  The idea behind this technology is the following. A company sets global business goals it wants to achieve. Then every team and every person set individual goals which are a sort of combination between a company goal and individual goal. In this way both a company and an individual benefit: company is constantly developing and moving towards the goal and the person is developing professionally.

But the important part here is not just the goals itself. It’s establishing sort of a motivation pattern where a person / a company making a decision always knows where they are going and if they make certain decisions they know why they are making these decisions. Though it might seem not very important it’s actually a big factor which makes our brain think in certain direction and adjust the behavior to achieve goals.

So to become successful and motivated in goals it’s important to do two things: set the goals (mid-term, long-term) and establish a verification process to understand which percentage of the results has been accomplished. It can be every month or every half a year or any other interval. The progress can be: 10%, 20%, 50% or 100% – it doesn’t matter. As log as it’s relevant and up to date.

Revisit your goals every quarter and fixate your progress. In some period of time you will notice that your thinking has been adjusted and you are doing things much effectively in the desired directions.
